Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys
I was wondering if anyone can recommend me a good boost pedal? For certain parts in my bands songs, there's the need for the bass to be louder and in other parts vise versa Should I even go with a boost pedal or would a volume pedal be better? I was thinking a Ernie Ball volume pedal, Boss Equalizer, etc. Any suggestions? I mean some parts just need some more.
Thanks
P.S: In before "put your volume knob low and raise it when you need to."

I like the Catalinbread Serrano Picoso alot as well. It's a very quiet, clean boost in a super small enclosure. I heard their Super Chili Picoso is pretty great, too.
Lost of options, for sure!

--your budget
--visual aesthetic preferences
--clean or dirty boost
--single function or more versatile
FWIW the Ernie Ball pedal is not a boost, it's just like the volume knob on your bass except it's on the floor. |

It's awesome. It definitely colours your tone but in a good way. It's got a bass boost switch internally but I prefer it without.
FWIW, I like the EP Boost more than I liked the Fulltone Fatboost.

Lots of volume to be had there; I never have the vol knob above 10 o'clock. The BD also has the swell option of adding a separate "Boost" channel (engaged via separate switch) to provide even more volume and a fair amount of dirt. Some folks don't like the fact that the dirty boost can only be engaged after the clean one, but my feet are big enough to hit both switches at once, so I don't mind. |

Good enough to use as a preamp alone but I've been favoring it as a boost for live shows as it has tons of db's to boost in the front end of my Aguilar pre... And the price is right for all you get. You can hear it on all the demo songs I tracked on my website below... |

Loads of very expensive clean boost pedals are basically LPBs. If you got an LPB-1 and a Signal Pad, you would have your bases covered. |

You can buy a new one direct or on e-bay (he has a couple of e-bay sellers who help move them). They run about $149 new but I noticed a used one is listed on e-bay for $80.( http://cgi.ebay.com/Lizard-Leg-Effec...item20af9655c6)
The boost is very clean and they are built like tanks.

Plus all the other signal-routing stuff it does...

Just watched the video on the website...looks to be a nice boost pedal. |

Scripture Fuzz.
Get heard with The Word Comp.
Old and New Testament versions.
Maybe they could design a delay pedal and call it "Saul".
OK, back to OT. I thought the Carl Martin Compressor worked real well as a clean boost with the compressor function minimized. |

There are just soooo many options! It's really important to know whether you just want "louder", or want a tonal "color" change as well. Disappointment awaits if you don't suss this out ahead of time! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
