I'm looking at getting a Fuzz distortion pedal, any advice? I was thinking about getting a DigiTech one since the music store near here only carries that brand for bass effects so are they any good?

Well, there are a lot of really great bass fuzz effects out there, but how well they will work for you depends on what kind of gear you use and what kind of sound you're looking for. So... what gear do you use and what kind of sound would you like to achieve?

Earthbound Audio Effect Supercollider... Amazing, versatile fuzz pedal.

http://www.myspace.com/earthboundaudioeffects

It's made with low tuned guitars in mind, drop B, A, that area I imagine. So it has way more low end than most guitar pedals, so it works amazingly with bass. If you want to hear it on bass, there are some soundclips in some threads, just search Supercollider... Also, you can hear it used extensively in my drum and bass stoner rock band (drop B) if you go to the link in my sig.

Well as for gear I have a cheap Behringer BX1800 amp for the time being and mostly use either my ESP LTD B-105 or my Ibanez GSR-200. The sound I want to kind of go for is Mige's (from H.I.M.) bass sound. I saw them live last year and loved his bass sound. I know he uses a Fender P-bass in B-tuning, but I'm not really a fan of those basses so I want to get close to his sound with my 5-string.
