he amazes me every second of my life it seems, and now i cant figure out what he use to get that kinda soking wet gooey sound in songs like phantom patriot and stuff off of his newer albums, its puzzled me for awhile now

Well,
He was a pioneer in the usage of effects in the studio but I'm not familiar with any of his recent stuff. |

When you filter that, it comes out sounding like playing a rubber band (even more so than his clean tone).
