Good overdrive pedal for slap

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a good overdrive pedal that I can leave on most of the time, and that doesn't crap out when you slap through it. I'm thinking of an old school 70s kind of sound with lots of low end punch and growl. Does such a pedal exist?

Boss ODB-3 (assuming, really, because Flea uses/used one for a long time and slaps constantly)...and it has a wet/dry blend which would help maintain the low end.

Might be worth a try.

I'd say you need something with a slight mid hump. Or a clean blend could do the same trick.

So yeah, check out the ODB-3 and maybe the Ashdown Lomenzo Hyperdrive.

The Barber LTD Silver has a great slap sound, wish I'd never got rid of mine .

Catalinbread SFT works well for slap. It's basically 60/70s Ampeg in a box. You can keep it clean and add punch and growl or add as much or as little hair as you want. Very amp-like pedal.
