I've recently dived into the effects world and purchased a tech 21 Vt bass pedal and now i cant stop looking at all the effects world has to offer.I play mostly rock/hard rock music and have been looking for some good pedals and wanted to ask you guys what you would recommend.

.
I'd recommend chorus and fuzz or overdrive for a start.

Take on board all the recommendations you'll get here, then
go to your local guitar shop and try them all.
It really depends on what the songs you are playing require.

Try individual pedals and multi-effects units.
Let your ears decide what you like!

Save yourself a lot of money and start making them. And if you don't want to do that...

I would not overlook getting a good blend pedal, boss ls-2 is a great cheap start. These come in very handy for switching channels but also for retaining you low end when you have distorted your signal.

Good luck and enjoy. There is a wealth of good info here and good people to help you with it.

I started with a BBE Sonic Stomp and was happy if you check my profile all of those pedals have been bought sold and traded within the last year and a half that's when I discovered the TB classifieds yeah it got way out of control if I had a crack problem I would be homeless right now and doing some pretty terrible things in back alleys and truck stops.

Well, at least you know going into this what can happen. But it doesn't have to be that way. Look for pedals that have multiple functions, and not necessarly a multi-fx unit.

The TC Flashback can be a delay, chorus and looper pedal. I do like my M5 for all of the funstions caeman listed and a lot of people are into the B3. So that's not a bad place to start, to find out what type of fx suit you.

LOL that sounds like the person who took his first hit of crack "How bad can this stuff be" to be serious I would look at your favorite artists then research their "live" setup because it's almost impossible to duplicate the studio sound unless you use their engineer and studio. I think Caeman has an excellent list also to start with check the classifieds here to get some great deals.

For basic rock'n'roll on bass, the formula can be kinda minimal.
1) overdrive and fuzz...for that raunchy grind
2) chorus...for the extra swirl
3) flanger...maybe as a flanger/chorus pedal, to have BOTH at once
4) clean boost...for when you get to slow and need that extra 20db.
5) compressor...potentially, for when you want to limit the spikes during heavy passages.

You can certainly get a lot fancier, but the above will get you a lot of rock tones.

Playing in a rock band with a tuner, compressor, boost, overdrive, another overdrive, preamp/di. Fancy an octaver and an eq.
