I got an EHX Bass Big Muff pi for my birthday today!
I chose this one because it had the dry switch, which mixes the fuzz and clean. I think it's really cool how the controls when you have it on dry only affects the distortion, not your clean sound! Exactly what I was looking for!
So far its seeming like a really great pedal, it's all metal, sounds great to me, and it's made in the USA, which I like.
I just have one question, if I leave a cable plugged into the input, is it still draining the battery even if I don't have the pedal activated?
Thanks a lot guys!

Either way, I still like the pedal!
Anyone have any tips or comments on this pedal for me?

Batteries suck.

I like to keep it in the blend mode with sustain maxed out and tone at about 3 o'clock. It's a really aggressive distorted tone that cuts through the mix great. It can also do a more subtle, deep fuzz very well. |

After a week or so I will be sure to post a review after using it in a band setting and such!

There are a couple pedals that have more low-end emphasis and there are a couple mods you can do, but fuzz and tube saturation/overdrive are two totally different animals.

The "classic" bass through big muff sound has always been one of those love/hate combinations to me. I've used the classic Big Muff PI with good results in the studio - but using it in a show context didn't work for me... The Big Muff-type fuzz really sounds great for bass, but every muff I've tried (until now) just lost too much low-end for me to use in a live situation.
The re-tooled Bass Big Muff has solved all of my past problems with it. Finally, I can get that gnarly fuzzed out sustain of the Big Muff without sacrificing low-end punch and without having to pummel everyone with compensatory volume. Thanks EH! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
