Got me in a Stranglehold, Baby!

My band has covered Uncle Ted's classic for years. I've always used very heavy chorusing on the bass line. It sounds like there is more to it than that, but I just can't put my finger on it. Any ideas?

I use a Boss Phase Shifter(PH3). Got the sound dialed in very close with it. I believe the original was recorded with a phase shifter also.(Not sure what kind)

Most bassists around here seem to use a phaser on that song, but I read on an HC forum that someone used a flanging chorus pedal and nailed it, by his account. He did not mention the pedal's name though.

I use Chorus and flange. Sounds good enough to me.

Rob Grange is a Talkbass member and has stated unequivocally that it was recorded with an MXR Phase 90.

This pedal is often mentionned here, so I'm assuming it's bass-friendly. Definitely one to look at during my next trip to the shop.

See if they can get the reissue script version, as the block logo Phase 90 sounds noticeably different.

Rob Grange (Ted's bass Player on Stranglehold) was with him at the Dallas Guitar show last year (along with Derek St. Holmes)...it was great to see those guys together again!...I personally "did not" get up to the front of the stage to check it out, but was told by a friend Rob was using Script Phase 90....
