GR-20 vs. V-Bass for bass midi/synths?

Sign in to disble this ad
I know that both can be used for bass as long as you have the pickup
installed but what does one offer that the other doesn't?

What's the difference between them exactly?

Ok so from what I've gathered, the V bass is more of a multi effects pedal that has
a "real sound" feature that requires the extra pickup and the GR-20 is a synth/midi
that needs the extra pickup to trigger it's sounds.

Right?

Pretty much,..the V-bass does modeling, basses and amps, if I remember correctly, also has some synth sounds, lots of FX, nice unit,..it will NOT send a midi signal though, can't trigger an external synth with it, kind of a big letdown from my point of view. The GR-20 is a synth guitar/bass unit,...lots of sounds, some pretty useable,...very fun toy.
I found the tracking better on the V-bass than on the GR-20. Sounds, like a piano, or anything with a crisp attack, multi timbral sound, tend to lag on the GR. I have a GR-20 now and would like to have the V-bass to go along with it, all I seem to lack, are the funds.

I guess I just want to get a really good synth that I can customize with some midi type stuff.

Is the GR-20 better for that?

You are asking the same questions that were asked and addressed in the threads I linked. Why not just find the huge amount of text there about these very things and read it?

Or is this a sign of attention deficit disorder? If so, you aren't going to do very well with more complex electronic items.
