Great GC find

I doubt anyone knows me or anything but if you do, you know I loath GC. Generally they suck. Bad service, bad prices, they treat their employees like crap... etc...

But, I went into the Denver store today to buy a new bass octave pedal. I took a look around an notice that they had a case full boutique pedals that, I would later find out, a guy sold off because he's getting a divorce and needs the cash. All of it was in amazing shape! This guy, supposedly, just collected the pedals and never really played them.

So, here's the point. They had a MoogerFooger Lowpass Filter in there for $150!!! I tried it out and it worked flawlessly. It looked like it was brand new. Not a scuff on it, not a fingerprint on it!

Now... I've seen these in display cases. I've heard from people how great they are. I've used the MoogerFooger plugins on Pro Tools... I could just never justify the $280 price tag. Nothing prepared me for how sick this thing is!! I've tried the Mutron, the Qtron all the other trons... this destroys them all.

I just wanted to relay this satisfied-Guitar-Center-customer story to y'all since I'm usually the first to say how bad they are.

I bought my Pitchfactor from the a week or so ago for 350 and am pretty damn happy with the product and price. Sometimes GC is awesome.

I've gotten a few good deals on used gear at GC... new gear? No.

Sometimes you'll get some great stuff at GC, but like Harry said, almost always used. I saw a used MIM P bass in mint condition for $200 one time...

Yep...I scan GC quire often. Similar situation enabled me to bag a Green Sovtek Muff for $75.00 out the door one time. Got a '74 P-Bass for $300.00 too.

They do have good deals every now and then on used or demo gear. Sometimes at the Rancho Cucamonga store they have a sidewalk sale. I found a Digitech Bass Synth Whah pedal (the older green model) for $19.95. It was in perfect condition sitting on their close out table. It was in the original box with the all of the paperwork. It's not a great pedal. It has maybe two or three usable settings but for what I need it to do it was worth the $20.00. I also picked up an open boxed (actually the plastic box was broken) SD 1/4 pounder P-bass pick up. It was never used and in perfect condition for $30.00. I picked it up for a friend and he put it in his MIM P-Bass.
