SO I go into GC today looking to play a Weeping Demon wah pedal for fun. It was no fun------half the time different settings just did not seem to even notice the bass signal and do anything with it, everything else sounded thin. Played it thru an Ampeg SVT head.
So I plug into an MXR Phase 90 (little orange box with a BIG gnarly knob. I think, "Hmmmph, one trick pony." I start playing...***! This thing is handling all frequencies flawlessly (was playing a Schecter Elite 4).
I buy it, take it home, hook it up and run it in front of a chorus = great mix = WOW! Then I run it behind my Dunlop Bass CryBaby = WOW, very clear effects from both and NOT burying any notes or dropping lows.
Then I run all 3 with the Phase 90 in the middle plus some reverb = dang...WOW again.
Home set-up: Played a 1980 Washburn SB40 (active) thru a Laney 300watt head into 4x10 cab
Phase 90 set at 10:30 and Noon positions andt still gave me wows even when cranked over into spacey territory of about 2-3 o'clock position.
Sorry for the length of the story------but man am I glad I picked up that MXR Phase 90!
So anyone looking for a Phaser great for bass--try this one out and maybe save some bucks (its about $79 U.S.).
