Grey Stache vs Russian Muff

Sign in to disble this ad
I sincerely apologize if this has been talked to death, but I've been looking for a green Russian Muff fuzz tone, and I heard that the Fuzzrocious Grey Stache can get a similar sound.

My question is, does the Grey Stache really stand up to the Russian, and do you know anything that better emulates that tone?

Grey Stache can do everything the TFR can. It lacks a clean blend but it has huge mids so you'll never get lost in the mix. Way more versatile.

I own both pedals.
In general I would say the Grey Stache is a more versatile pedal and it can do many of what the TFR can do.
That being said there is no stock answer; it depends in front of what amp.
For example, in front of my SVT-CL the Grey Stache wins.
In front of my Markbass F500, the SUF Civil War tends to be the best.

I tend to like the TFR at a pretty low level of gain, meanwhile the Grey Stache unleashes my evil side and makes me want to turn the gain all the way up!
If you want your muff conservative the TFR might be the way to go, if you like it wild look no further than the Stache.
If you can own both, one can never have too many muffs/fuzz.
