Groove regulator1 vs wonderlove.

So I finally found something to replace my q. The groove regulator is very nice. Only thing I don't like about it is that all the knobs tweak the sound. Where as the q tron you really only have two knobs to tweak. But that could be a good thing..

So what will I hear between the GR1 and the WL?

From what I have seen, though I haven't played through either of them. The wonderlove looks like a funk machine. It's definitely a gas of mine. The Groove Regulator looks similar, but doesn't sound like the Wonderlove. From what I have seen on YouTube. That is what I base my opinion on. Take it with a grain of salt.

I think you might really like the Proton. It's a two knob (well, mine is, the new ones have three knobs) filter that sounds great and is easy to dial in.

I think the GR1 and 2 are based on the Lovetone Meatball, but for the Wonderlove, Spencer tweaked the design to sound more Mu-tron like.

IMO, the differences between the GR1 and the Wonderlove are relatively minor but still meaningful.

The WL is a bit "wetter" (more resonance) and noticeably fatter sounding. The bypass switch is Spencer's newer "relay based" design and of course it's visually different, with the sweet two tone etching.

Until recently I had both the Wonderlove and the GR2 (have not tried a GR1 but don't think they're that different, if at all)
I bought the WL on the strength of the GR2, which is just an utterly amazing piece of kit, and was disappointed with the WL to the point where I sold it last week. For me, even in low pass, the WL was nowhere near as deep/fat/juicy/funky/easy to dial in as the GR2 so it lost the fight. I wanted desperately to love it as much as I love the GR2 but in the end it just didn't work for me.

I've had a GR1 and a Proton. I loved the proton, easy to dial in a good sound and much wetter than the GR1. Supposedly if you get a GR1 that's after the 1st 100 made they're wetter. I had # 19 or something. Didn't quite do it for me, but it was a very quality pedal just not quite as off the wall as I was looking for.
I traded the Proton for a WMD super fatman, but would still love another proton.

WOW! I had a proton that was almost as wet as my q tron but not quite. And now I have a grove regulator 1 that I love and is replacing my q tron.

Funny people say the GR1 isn't wet. But it's my favorite now
