Audio Sample

Opinions on the recording? I'm learning a bunch of new things... figured just shooting out some things would help.

Bass -> Pickle -> Amp -> MIC -> Mixer -> Logic

There's too much of reverberation and the sound is too blured.

Yeah, clean sounds "ok", but even then the top seems clipped, once the pedal comes on... things go poorly.

+1. What the hell went wrong????? It doesn't sound anything like a pickle IMO.....

EDIT: Actually READING your OP....

It seems like a mic placement problem. Whats the mic? Condenser, dynamic? If its a condenser type it's prolly just a mic placement thing. I found that I could get quite the bass "bloom" from an eight inch speaker, depending on where I put the mic.

Yeah, all my mic'd recordings had been done with SM58, so this is all new. I think this mic has a much larger dynamic range and I'm clipping the mixer. I hope to spend some more time educating myself tonight... I'm not recording genius.

Why dont you just line out of the amp into the mixer or interface? Save yourself the whole issue with mic type, mic placement, amp levels into the mic, mic levels at the mixer, etc.

I had one on loan for a little bit, I did a review which is pretty glowing. That said, I had it for such a short time I can't remember the 'feel' of it enough to compare the two. Memory is such a fickle thing.
