GT-10B and a MIDI Mouse

Can I use this to navigate patches on the GT-10B.

From what I gather in the manual of the GT-10B is that the PC# (1-128) changes what patch you're on. The confusing part to me is that the 400 patches (200 user/200 preset, 50 banks of 4 each) are divided up by CC#0 value. 0 for the 1st 25 banks, 1 for the 2nd, etc. (any PC# > 100 is treated as 100)

How does that affect the proposed usage of the MIDI Mouse?

The reason I ask is that I spend 99.9% of my time in "manual" mode where the patch # and bank switches are assignable to FX modules. Up until midnight last night this was not a problem, but downsizeing a little has forced me to reassign the 2 switches I has set to patch up/down to other things.

How many patches do you need?

The Midi Mouse doesn't have bank select capabilities - just 128 patch numbers. I'm not sure how the wraparound will work once you hit #100 in your user bank - 101-128 may get you to 1-28 of the 2nd user bank (maybe), but your best bet is to put all the patches you need within one user bank and you'll have no problem accessing 1-100 with the midi mouse.

I don't need that many, in fact the 128 PC#s generated from the mouse will allow me to scroll thru 100 patches. More than enough, really.

Im just wondering how the CC#0 value thing works, and if the mouse transmits that too, or just the PC#....

I don't know if you're already using one, but I picked up the Boss dual footswitch this week to use with my GT-10B. Having the extra assignable footswitches is nice while in manual mode, and also means I need to be in manual mode less often.

If you're looking at the MidiMouse, I'm guessing your CTRL3/4 jack is already being used, So I'm curious about the mouse thing as well.

The MIDI Mouse sends Program Changes only, not Control Changes. When it comes to switching patches, you don't even need to think about CCs.

Hmm. So would I be able to flip thru just some of them?

Here is a photo of the midi implementation of patch switching (since the PDF online is foobard for me )

Even if I can just flip between a hundred patches it would be more than I need. I more or less just wanna know if its possible

Program Changes are all you'll need for changing patches- that's basically what they're for. Control Changes are for changing parameters within a patch. So if you want to use an external MIDI devices to change the tempo on one of your patches, the CC# will have to match up with what's listed in the manual (CC# 0 for most of them). For patch switching, just forget about CCs.
