+1.

Having no experience with the Boss, but based on the reviews of previous GT's, I'd say if you want an multi that can have you effects in any order, go with the Boss. If you want exelent models of different amps (which I doubt, bassed on you profile), go with the POD.

Still, I'd just save up and go with some individual stomps. I wish I had.

EDIT: The one thing that the GT10B really has going for it over the other multis is the built in looper. AFAIK, no other multi has a built in looper....

If the GT10B is anything like the GT6B, then the overdrive/distortion models suck, both stompbox and amp models. They sound like digital clipping, no warmth or gentle breakup. I'm not keen on the compression models either.

However, the other effects are fantastic. So if you want a good variety of amp models and drive sounds, go Line6, but if you want infinitely tweakable lush effects, then go boss.

Or, this is what I would do in hindsight...

Get a much cheaper zoom unit, work out which effects you actually use and can't live without, and build a decent pedal board with quality individual stompboxes.

Ummm, that's still a POD.

Line 6 Bass POD XT Live would be the full product name.

Unless you are getting rid of a bunch of pedals you just hate, stick with them. Here's a partial rundown of what I think about the POD's effects: The MuTron model is decent... but a little limited in tweakability. The choruses are actually fair to good, but again, limited tweakness. Distortions and overdrives are Line 6's strongpoint, I think. The Rat model, and the Big Muff model are actually really good. The built in compressor is pretty good, but I think the attack time is a bit too slow for slappity stuff. The synth on the older PODs was a pain. I didn't actually play with it on any of the newer ones, but I've read that it is a lot better. The gray flanger and orange phaser are very cool. Everything else is average enough to slip my mind right now.

But, like I said, the overdrives and distortions are the best parts of the POD, IMO. The EQ section is right up there as well. Very tweakable, very usable. So basically, if you plan to use it as a preamp, this is a pretty nice choice for a solid state preamp. But, if you are trying to get more oomph than your pedals are allowing you, you will waste your money.

I'm thinking I might have to switch to the XT Live... lastet version...
Clean set up and tear down, multiple x multiple = choices....

I currently have no plans on using any distortion, play active basses and don't need a boost effect....

I'm thinking that the XT would've been less expensive and way more choices...

I have nothing but love for my digitech BNX3, unfortunately the dumbasses at digitech discontinued it, so finding one is damn near impossible (unless you buy used online).

The looper in the GT10b is garbage compared to the built in jam man looper on the BNX, and the effects aren't half bad, certainly usable live for me.

I recently bought the X3Live.
Two channels, and effects for guitar, bass and voice: you can connect a microphone and a guitar and have them working with different setting at the same time. Same for any combinations of instr/voice.
You can use it in a variety of modes, and pilot the Variax bass (if you own it).
In adition: huge libray of Internet pre-sets.

If you want a multi use machine go for this beast.
For bass only processing: BOSS.

^ LOL, no offence or anything but that post made me actually LOL.

It just sounds like an ad from Line 6. Prolly just the wording, etc. The kicker was "If you want a multi use machine go for this beast. For bass only processing: BOSS." I can totally imagine a deep voiced radio anouncer saying that, just replace "BOSS" with "The OTHER guys" or something.

I don't think so. They are about the same, but the Line 6 has a few things that are more cryptic to tweak (the "Cabs and EQ" button can be a tad confusing). The trade off is there is more tweaking on the Line 6, but more features "unhidden" on the Boss, so everything feels more cramped and hard to find.

I just bought the BAss Pod xt live yesterday afternoon and after toying with it for about an hour, I took it to a gig last night. Crazy, I know! (Especially since I'm still figuring out what some of the stuff does.)

Using the supplied usb cable, I just finished going on-line and updating the drivers, download some new software, and am currently downloading patches that other users have submitted. That is pretty cool!

As with anything, there's always going to be the haters and the lovers. Ultimately, it's up to you what you want to spend your money on, right? Just because famous artist "John Smith" uses product "ABC," it might not work for you...

False. I sell Line 6 and Boss products at my job and the main reason i sell the Boss GT-10 more(it would be a B if i had Bs!) is because it is easier to use and has more quality on the effects. It doesn't take the quantity over quality direction like most Line 6 products do.

I'm not bashing on Line 6, but those pedals are hard to use and some of the effects are wacky. Line 6 even admits about their multi-effects being complicated! Look on the side of a Line 6 DL-4 box. Quite humorous
