Guitar/Bass Trainer

Not sure if this is the right forum, if not I apologize.

What are the best trainer devices out there today, to slow down the songs, anything to isolate bass? etc? Any apps out there do this? Or a digital device? Not the old CD ones.

Audacity can slow down songs, but to remove bass you need a lot of high tech software that isn't cheap. Your best bet would be audacity that will let you slow down your song and lots of other useful things! Plus it's free

Sienzio (Sony) Digital Music Mentor is pretty cool software. Analyzes MP3s & some other music file types and outputs guitar chords and bass tab. Plays the MP3 while displaying the location in the song in real-time and also shows the chords and fingerings. You can edit in the lyrics and other notes as you wish. DMM Analysis also gives you the key and average BPM. I use Audacity first to get the MP3 into the target key before analysis by DMM. Not perfect but is a valuable tool!

If you're not interested in manipulating MP3s and such, I recommend Guitar Pro (which you can purchase online). Once you buy it, you can just download the Guitar Pro tabs from most tab sites. It allows you to isolate any instrument and slow down the playback. I especially like the loop feature, which allows you to select any section of the song and have it start slow, then repeat at progressively faster tempos. Very good for learning tricky parts!

I use the new Boss BR80 which is a fantastic guitar/bass trainer and a lot, lot more. I use mine as a field recorder, usb interface, usb microphone and general sketchpad in addition to having all my band's songs loaded onto it.

Anyone have any experience with the Boss TU-88?
Boss TU-88 Micro Monitor & Tuner for Guitar & Bass: Shop Accessories & Other Musical Instruments | Musician's Friend

I've been thinking of something like that for practice when my daughter is asleep.
