I would like to have a better overview of your experience with this products since I`ve not found much of them here. I ve bought Guitar Rig 3 and I think it sounds simply amazing in bass and guitar. I think I could work more with the latency since it is 21ms, is it too much? how much must it be. Also If you can post your chain between your bass or guitar to the computer would be good. Im conecting: Fender Stratocaster-behringer bdi21-tascam usb 122-computer. I use Guitar Rig 3 as a stand alone or with adobe audition as vst plugin.

Your latency is often less dependent on your software and more-so upon your hardware. I know that the Tascam US-122, being a USB interface, has a fairly high latency in a lot of cases, in my experience. 21ms latency should be reasonably acceptable for input, as far as real-time tracking, if you're using the 122 for monitoring as well as recording, the 21ms can lead to your tracks being significantly out of sync.

Thanks Bryan.

I think 21ms latency has work well, its just a little out of sync, but is very minimal. Im not using the monitor of the tascam.

is SVX better than Guitar Rig 3 for bass?

I need one. I don't use any effects. I just want a nice clean bass tone.

I love how my bass sounds clean and with effects on GR, but i´ve heard tha SVX works fine with the clean tone as well. You should try both demos and decide.

I've got a Mackie Onyx Satellite firewire interface, with a pretty old laptop. It has high impedance inputs for guitar or bass, and you can get it for £120. I can get 2ms latency using these plugins solo, but have to raise it up when using it in a full sequencer setup with other intruments and effects in the mix.

The SVX effects aren't great, but they've just released Amplitube X-Gear which is a host that lets you mix'n'match the components from Ampeg SVX, Amplitube, Amplitube Jimi Hendrix and Amplitube Metal. Which means you can use the guitar overdrives and fuzzes with the Ampeg models.

Ampeg SVX has a greater variety of bass amps/cabs, while Guitar Rig has a shedload of effects with flexible routing and mixing chains and has the added bonus of being useful for guitar. As to which sounds the best, get the demos or the AiR versions and use your ears to decide.
