Anyone here have any experience using Guitar Rig and a laptop for live looping? Any input would be helpful!
Thanks!

This gets discussed a lot, and there are a lot of knowedgable loopers.
From what I've seen, most of the SW loopers are more "studio/home", and most of the people who do a lot of live looping use HW loopers.
Most but not all...

He made a bit of a contraption however with an LCD screen and a "pedal" board with buttons similar to a console arcade game to control the various functions.

| | | Is this Rico the same one who does the Roland RC-50 looping demos? If so he is good!
I use Guitar Rig at home but have not been a real fan of it's looper...
I have used Mobius ( www.zonemobius.com) which is a free looper - probably one of the most powerful loop programs out there. I might try using it live someday once I get my live computer issues straightened out.
I did just get an RC-50 though - looking forward to using it.

I'm kind of trying to do similar stuff with my midified six string bass and ableton live with the behringer fcb1010 foot controller.
It's kind off tough to get it all set up right, and I still have to figure out better ways to do all that looping of audio and midi loops... Right now my loops are only audio no midi.
This guy really makes me want an rc50... But I guess it's hard to get the tracks back in the computer afterwards for final arrangements etc. |

Most but not all... | Final Fantasy uses software for living looping controlled by a MIDI footswitch. Recommended |

Here's a little sample if you so choose to click. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXbLWQ_vQos |

They are stored as WAV files and the RC-50 shows up as another drive on your computer. Just remember that overdubs are considered part of the phrase so you can't save each overdub individually.
Also you can load loops if you are so inclined to do so...this can come in real handy if you need special effects or an instrument fill in that is not normally part of the band...

Mobius is very powerful and much more versatile although I think the looper in GR is pretty good (much better than any of the cheap hardware pedals). I haven't been using it long and find stomping a perfect loop quite tricky although you can sync it by midi or to the metronome if that helps. I think I might try sending a click to my drummer or just using the visual metronome + tap tempo to help with sync.
By the way Mobius is free so definitely get that but there is a free demo of GR and I think it would be worth you downloading that to get a feel of the looper. Also while I remember I am using GR2 so it may have been improved in GR3.
