Not my auction, of course. This is half the price I've seen them at so far. Note my review, it needs a simple mod to be ideal for bass.

Can a compressor that looses low-end benefit from a blend pedal? It seems like it would work, but would it sound good?

It depends; the ST2 has a blend built in, but the blend is after the capacitor that rolls off the lows. There are a few other comps that include a blend built in too. Using an external blender, with some compressors there may be issues with peaks or dips in the signal due to the clean and processed signals interfering with each other; so a phase switch on the blender can help with that.

I've done that with a few comps, and it can sound pretty good. But the very largest volume spikes from a bass are typically in the lowest lows, so if your lows are being blended back in uncompressed, there can be some issues with clipping the next device in line. Depends on the particular gear and player.

Does the blend on the Barber Tone Press allow you to get the lows back? People rave about that pedal on The Gear Page. When I asked the question I had an orange squeezer type compressor in mind.

The Barber doesn't roll off any lows in the first place. People rave about all kinds of crap. The Barber has very little in common with an Orange Squeezer.
