HA Badder Monkey

Sign in to disble this ad
I just purchased this pedal off the forum and was wondering if anyone could post some soudclips while I wait ever so patiently. Also how does it stack up against other OD such as the ODB-3? I searched but there is no true comparison or review threads that I noted.

The Monkey is an overdrive with a fat creamy sound. The ODB-3 is a harsh box of harshness.

I posted a brief comparison of the Monkey against five other OD's just a couple of weeks ago, and the Monkey is mentioned several times a day in threads about OD's, with lots of descriptive commentary. I'm pretty sure I've seen clips of it too.

I think you're really going to like this pedal. It's the best tube screamer for bass for the money that I've personally used or heard of.

I just got one and my guitarist (who is a Brit and a KCrimson fan) said I sounded like John Wetton with it. That's good. I'm still getting to know how it interacts with other pedals, but alone it's a natural sound with plenty of low end. I told Humphry that where the VT is a 60s-70s overdriven SVT sound, the Badder Monkey is the late 70s and 80s overdirven Trainor sound. That was a joke.

There used to be clips in the Wiki, but I just remembered (and saw) that the majority of those clips were wiped out in some sort of "free hosting service disappears" event. Sorry!

I have the Humphreys Monkey in series with the ODB-3. For nice OD sound, I use only the Monkey. Kick on the ODB-3 to use both and it's hang onta yer hat.

I'm glad you like it. You should post some clips if you have any recording equipment. I never got a chance to but I'm glad that the Humphrey Monkey has found a happy new home.

First you go to the deal thread and copy that link. Then you go to the person's profile and click on "submit feedback". That takes you to the feedback page, where you have to hit "submit feedback" again. Paste the deal thread into the appropriate field, and proceed feeding back.

I like the Badder Monkey with guitar and bass, but it geeks out sometimes when I play it with the bass, so I gave up on it. Anybody else have this problem?

What do you mean when you say "geeks out"?
