Anyone know of an effects pedal that will give you a similar sound to a Hammond organ with a Leslie? |

(plus a delay is as good as always. )
Will try to make some soundclips of this if you are interested.
Although I don't know much about the Hammond Organ sound to be honest.
I'm guessing for Hammond style you probably also need a mild overdrive.
My guess: Ibanez TubeScreamer (or TS based bass specific pedal) + micro POG (or big POG or POG2) + chorus and/or tremelo
would get you in the ballpark. |

I bought one recently and it's awesome. I'm looking to add a MicroPOG to make it more organ like. Other alternatives for a leslie sim are:
DLS Rotosim
Boss RT-20
Digitech Expression Factory EX-7
Danelectro Rocky road
Line 6 Roto Machine
Of the cheaper ones, the Digitech is supposedly one of the best, and it also throws in whammy and all kinds of other cool toys. I almost bought one over the Option 5. |

Line 6 Roto Machine | To that list I'd also add: Fishman AFX Chorus (it's called chorus but in reality it's a chorus/flanger/tremelo/rotary pedal).
It's the pedal I'm getting next to replace the RotoMachine.
Also BBE and Behringer make a rotary speaker sim... does anyone have feedback on these? |

One of my favorite sounds is Garth Hudsons lower register work on The Bands "Chest Fever" live versions have even even more of an overdriven breakup tone that just shakes the ground. To get that vibe I use a combination of a compressor, EBS Octabass, and Micro Vibe into a Roger Mayer Voodoo bass.
For higher register emulation I kick in the POG rather than the Octabass, using the Voodoo Bass for a touch of overdrive as needed. ... I've yet to find one pedal that can do it. |

We can rightfully start an " organ emulators club" here in the effects forum.
It can be done on bass, and it sounds wonderful. |

Or, am I missing something?

The bass pedals that are attached to my Hammond B3 driving (2) 122 Leslies. There is no substitute for the real thing! My favorite organ sound of all time. That pedalboard aways looks great as well. Have fun, Wayne |

Or, am I missing something? | Allmost all the Fishman pedals work excellently with electric bass.
I'm going to build a smaller pedalboard with my "essentials".
(I'm going to downsize on my effect use.)
Fishman AFX Chorus --> BOSS volume pedal FV500H --> Fishman AFX Delay
3 beautiful silver pedals. |

I was playing around with stacking my HOG with an English Muff'n and Vox AC50 set to be fairly distorted and playing that riff. its amazing. |

Fulltone Deja | I personally never found the univibes to sound particularly like a leslie, even though I know that was the original intent. Not saying I don't love the sounds of univibes for what they do.
I can personally attest to POG -> RT-20 sounding fantastic for hammond -> leslie tones. |

Thanks. |

If all you want is the Leslie Rotovibe sound the Behringer RM600 at about $50 looks like a bargain. Some of the others include extras I don't need that push the price to as much as $500.00. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
