after early (70's) bouts with pedal-mania, i have to say i'm really enjoying the EH english muff'n for an OD. i was looking for something that would add some grit, but not be obnoxiously bleating. used in my pre side chain, i love what this pedal does. i know it was the darling a bit ago, but it really does the job for the price. for me. a real musical OD, with it's own compression, that responds to digging in in a sweet way. yeah, i'm going to say it: a natural sounding OD, for me (really shines when mixed with dry). after hearing clips (blasted, bleating, over-the-top ones) posted here and there, i was holding out that it would dry mix well, and still have a decent tactile response. it does

I would love to get rid of mine because of its size and power supply, but I can't. It just sounds too damn good to me, for all the reasons you describe. Plus it turns harsh nasty distortions into smooth buttery goodness.
