Hardware for headphone practice!?

I do alot of practicing at the computer with headphones on ....i've been using my guitar POD 1 for bass as well for a while.....it's not bad but not exceptional. I recently plugged in an old marshall recording preamp i got 2nd hand ....it sounds terrible for guitar but better than the pod for bass....

also took out a sans amp bass driver on loan from store i teach at to try out .....the sans amp isn't worth the $235 for my purposes ...it's really not much better tone than the marshall pre ..

just wondering what some preferences are for this application?

bass pod? sans amp VT?

any others?

i also downloaded the free version of studio devil amp ...it is horrendous...i really don't like software amp sim...

plugged the sans amp in again and recorded with it ....must be loosing my mind ...it sounds pretty damn good! prolly can't afford it right now.....

Whatever bass processor that you like for ready for recording tone. Of new units I like the Zoom B9.1ut

Something with bass cab simulator. Don't forget to get a good quality studio headphones.
