Hartke Bass attack & HA3500

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Hartke HA3500 head with 2x10 and 1x15 cabs. My question is would a bass attack pedal give me more tonal options or would it be redundant? In other words can I get the same tones out of my amp now without having the pedal? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't my preamp knob act as the harmonics knob on the pedal? They both have the bass and treble knobs, so that would be the same. Input please.....

It will give you more options, plus the features of stomp on/off. It is not redundant. Go for it.

Yep, you're right. I actually purchased the pedal since my post and love it. Wish I would've gotten it sooner.

Yeah, I got the pedal so I don't have to mess around with different amp settings in different locations.

Still trying to figure out what's a good situation to use the Shape function.

the only thing on that pedal I don't care for is the shape function. i'm sure some like it, but it's not my thang. everything else is pretty darn excellent, especially when you consider its very reasonable price.

Perhaps not related but the *shape* function on a Kickback 12 I had awhile back was very effective feedback-killer for my DB; it seemed to be tuned perfectly for a problem frequency(wolf tone?)that plagues the big bass(mine, not necessarily all). I've wondered about snagging a Bass Attack pedal for this reason, although I don't play my DB much.

This goes to show you how weird and different bass players are. I LOVE the shape function. It is the main reason I bought the pedal.
