Hartke Bass Attack question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,

Running my Bass>Hartke Bass Attack>Hartke Hydrive 5210c. My question is in relation to using my amps eq settings. I turn done everything except the bass on the amps eq, and use the Bass Attack.

Im not noticing a real difference in tone. Am I making an obvious noob mistake on something? I thought I could use the Bass Attack's eq instead of the amps settings..

i get best results when my amps eq is flat. let the pedal dial it in for you. otherwise it feels like you're eq'ing it twice. if you use heavy eq on your amp, it will sound great in a small room. once you get the volume going it seems to either distort or just sound too much. every rig and setup is different so experiment with yours. use a flat eq on your amp as a starting point. best of luck.

If you only want to use the Bass Attack as a pre ithout the head's pre, plug the out of the Bass Attack into the effect return of your amp. If you run it in-line, you will have the EQ of your amp and pedal active, and you should remember the number one rule of preamp pedals into an amp: get a sound on the amp first, and use the pedal to enhance it or change it.
