Hartke HA2500 EFX inputs & Zoom B1

What's up All

I just got this little Zoom B1 and WAS having a really good time with it. It is a great head phone amp and it really added some nice flavor to the combo I use at rehearsal via the compression and cab modeling. So I decided to give a shot live on Saturday putting my Hartke VXL Pre-Amp in front of it running into my ha2500 head. Seemed fine when I checked it low level HOWEVER once at live volume halfway through the FIRST tune it began to cut out and I had to quickly remove it from the chain.

I am considering running it through the effects inputs on the back of my ha2500 to bypass its pre-amp. The manual does not recommend this. What do you folks think?

Thanks in advance any and all input is appreciated!

Are the instrument cables okay? if it's not, you should buy new cables. mogami and monster calbes would be good choices for instrument cables. I've use both those cables and I have no issues so far.

In any complicated chain you have to have everything working correctly so when there are problems you have to be certain of what the problem is. It could be cables or incompatibility or an overload issue. Using the B1 as a preamp would be usable so there is no reason not to try it inserted in the effects return, but it's preamp is not better than the one in the Hartke head.

Crystalman85 I got some new jumpers yesterday, Planet Waves, they unfort did not have Monster Jumpers in stock. I ran them last night in this sequence.

Digitech XBass Synth Wah - Zoom B1 - Hartke VXL Preamp

Worked great however, I was playing through Fender Extended Range 100 combo and not very loudly so we'll see what happens with my Hartke Rig (ha2500, VX2x10 & 115XL) when I gig next weekend.

bassbrad what are your thoughts on the chain above bypassing the ha2500 pre-amp going into effects run. Are their impedance risks?

That should be okay, impedance is not an issue but be careful not to overload the return.

What should I do or not do to avoid overloading the return?

I ran the setup today and is sounded UNDENIABLY better. But of course it was at home and no where near the levels I'll be playing at on stage.

If you cannot get monster cables, give mogami cables a try. I've been using them for quite some time and I can honestly say they're pretty decent instrument cables.
