| +1 to niftydog. It's really easy to wire in a DC jack, but just as easy to screw it up (after all, you're working with just two wires - you either do it right or do it wrong and need to re-wire it). Plastic DC jacks are ideal to prevent shorts, as most pedals are center-pin-negative, with the barrel positive. If the metal barrel comes in contact with the metal chassis of the pedal (which is usually attached to the negative ground), you have a problem.
Also... if you'd rather not go through this hassle, just use a battery clip adapter with your DC Brick. IIRC, don't they actually come with at least one of those adapters?
Even if it doesn't, just buy one to attach on any of your Boss-style-barreled cables which came with your Brick. Diago, Visual Sound, Godlyke, and others make these adapters.
