Hate to ask, but how do I get this tone?

‪Deerhunter - Nothing Ever Happened (live)‬‏ - YouTube

Does anybody know what kind of pedals he's using?

You can see him stomp it in the beginning of the video, I'm just not familiar enough with the pedals to recognize them. If anybody knows of a pedal that can get a similar tone I'd appreciate that too.

Thanks!

Looks like you need to start with duct taping your face, sounds really mid-rangey to me maybe a little fuzz too.

Not an answer to your question about tone, but that pedal looks like a tuner....

It sounds like a slightly overdriven tube amp

EDIT: I wasn't listening close enough, it's a light fuzz with a mid rangy tone

Just wanted to say, I got into Deerhunter a few months back and this is my favourite song of theirs.

As for the pedals, he's got two i can see there, one looks like a white boss pedal (tuner or delay), the other could be a number of things but almost looks like the Blackout Effects Musket Fuzz

Thanks, I'm really enjoying this and a lot of stuff of Halcyon Digest. I'll check out the Musket Fuzz.

For what its worth, 80% of his tone is coming from his bass. I have the same 51' Precision bass and there's really nothing like it. It just has a "woody", dry character that can't really be replicated by most basses with high mass bridges and medium jumbo frets (because they add more metal contact to the strings, thus changing the sound).

So if you really want that tone, I would suggest starting with a low-mass bridge, the smallest (usually vintage) frets you can find, and a vintage styled single coil pickup. The fuzz and amp are pretty secondary to this in his tone, IMHO.
