Have you seen this programmable Overdrive?

(copied from my post in a previous thread)

I discovered this by accident today:
http://www.t-rex-engineering.com/Def...113&VariantID=

The T-Rex Spindoctor. It is a guitard-designed pedal, but I'm really anxious to try it on bass! For $900 it better be amazing, however.

It does a lot-
-4 independent programmable presets (127 via midi)
-gain, presence, bass, mid, treble all programmable
-actual motorized knobs that change w/ each preset
-guitar or preamp level output
-extended midi implementation; including channel switching from your recording software
-"tunable" cabinet emulator for direct to mixer/recorder situations

I haven't tried one of course, but the obvious drawbacks are:
-not specifically designed for bass (not always a problem, however)
-eq knobs are adjustable one at a time only (they share a knob)
-price!!!

I hope to try one out soon.

Another "obvious" problem that came up the last time this pedal was discussed is the high potential for failure with motorized knobs. Especially for a piece of gear on the floor, getting stepped on, it seems like dirt would get in there and foul up the works. If that were a rack unit I'd be very interested though.

no matter how good it sounds itll always just be "that pedal with the knobs that move"

thats really just too much $$ for an overdrive pedal..i spent i think $115 on my overdrive (visual sound j&h) and it sounds better than anything else ive heard..plus also has a distortion side, all in the same pedal..

i'm all for spending anything to get the best sound, but...its overdrive..

For 900 buck you could prolly get a 4 pedal selector and 4 overdrives. Or at least pretty darn close.

yep.... looks over the top and as mentioned, for that money you could get some serious ODs happening and not have to worry about motorized knobs that will probably **** themselves one day.

And even if you could only afford three, you'd most likely discover you don't need four.
