Help! Boss rc-20

Just bought one and really having trouble "seeing" the beat. Little light indicacating beat not nearly as easy as hearing a drum or click track. Does anyone know if the new rc-20xl addresses this or of another loop station that would better suit my needs

I've never seen the RC-20, but the RC-20xl has a volume knob for the click track and about 1/2 dozen click variations.
