Help with EBS Stanley Clarke Wah - I think it's somehow broken itsself?

Sign in to disble this ad
My EBS Stanley Clarke Wah pedal is nearly a year old now, but about 3 months ago whenever I used it it started to sound "broken" of sorts - whenever I clicked it "on" I would lose a significant amount of sound from my amp (lower dB) and recently it's even started to make my amp distort it a very horrible manner.

I've just changed the batteries on my bass and the pedal and it still sounds "weak" and distorts my amp.

I used to hook up my Wah pedal to my BOSS Overdrive ODB-3 pedal for some really sick distortion, but now with this problem it sounds really tinny and weak, especially when the ODB-3 distortion is on.

My bass is an Ibanez BTB-550MFM, tuned to B-E-A-D, and my amp is a Roland Cube-30. I hook up the pedals
Bass -> EBS Wah -> Boss ODB-3 -> Amp

Could anyone please help me identify what the problem could be?

How does your bass sound when effects are not engaged/is your bass active?

It sounds perfectly clear and as loud as it is supposed to be (in accordance to how the volume knobs are turned). My bass has active pickups.

It is at perfect quality when I don't use the wah pedal, and at perfect quality when it runs through the wah pedal but the wah pedal is "off". As soon as I click the wah pedal "on" it makes the volume drop, sounds tinny, and sometimes distorts horribly.

Hmmm...Do you have any other effects? If so how do they sound? When you changed the battery, was it a new one or was it used before? Have you ever used a power supply? I say that because when the battery dies on my bass, the sound deteriorates/drops and distorts my amp. I know a bass and a wah pedal are completely different, but it's worth a shot. Once batteries get under 7 or so volts, they don't work as effectively.

The only effect pedal I have aside from the wah is the Boss ODB-3. Just tested it again right now - it seems to be in full working condition and sounding great.

The batteries in my bass are brand new - changed them a few hours ago. I thought that they might've been the problem, but apparently not. I use one Roland Corporation power supply for both my pedals, chained together. I've also changed the pedal's battery, to no effect.
