Help with effects and amp farting

Sign in to disble this ad
I just had a scary discovery.

I have a Tube Zipper, Tubescreamer, and a BBM on my board. Normally they give my bass some kind of dirty sound, but i just got some recording stuff and decided to plug it all in.

To my surprise i have no dirt!!! My muff is the only one with a little break up.

1. Does this mean that my pedals are actually just driving my amp so hard that it is clipping in the head or the speakers?

2. If it is clipping my head or speakers... (I'm afraid to ask this) will it hurt my head/speakers?

I forgot to add that my amp is an Acoustic B200 1x15 with a 1x15 cab attached.

The muff should be heavy, period. You have a SS head section, so there's nothing to drive.
You could be clipping the power section and overloading...
Set the EQ flat on your head, bring down the volume and try again.

Jesus. Never mind. I figured it out.

I was using a different bass for recording. I grabbed my normal bass and it is louder and a different pickup configuration, so it sounds perfect.

I'm sorry for wasting time.
