Help with Envelope Filter Advice..Maybe EH Mini Q-Tron

Sign in to disble this ad
hey guys,
i reciently acquired a bass microsynth and ... returned it. didnt like it at all.

i play in a funk band as well as some fusion groups on electric. i need something that can get that jamiroqui vibe in spades. i was looking and i couldnt find what zender and turner use. i know its a model of the q tron.

i was listening on the stickey thread and really enjoyed all of everyones posts. it really help me out.

the tone that i personally liked was that from the electro harmonix bass mini qtron.

heres the sound clip for verification:

i was lookin on musicians friend and some other websites and couldnt find their existance anywhere... are they obsolete.

i had a ebs bass iq and didnt liek how it sucked out all the low end.

would this pedal (mini) do this live.... or what would be a good pedal to use for a plug and play kinda guy.

thanks,
evan

ps my other pedals are a boss oc2... and a tu2. i like my notes in tune and thick, kinda like i do my envelope filters

The Mini is gone. Now there's the Micro, the regular Q-tron and the Qtron+.

Soundwise I can't tell you if the mini is the same as the micro.

I just got an XO Q-tron+ and it will definitely get/do that sound. From some sound clips I've heard you should also look at the Chunk systems Agent 00Funk MKII. I actually wanted the 00Funk more but I got a good deal on the Q-tron.

I've never played with a 00Funk Mk. II, but I owned a 00Funk Mk. I and a QTron (the older silver one) at one point. I gave both of them a few months to see which one I liked more. In the end, I stuck with my QTron because it is much easier to coax useful sounds out of. (The 00Funk is an amazing pedal, but was too tweakable for my tastes, and the knobs were too easy to turn while in transit. It would always change setting while I was going somewhere and I would have to sit down and re-set it.) I'd definitely have to recommend the QTron+ as I'd be buying one of those if I didn't already have a QTron.

I think the Micro is supposed to be the exact same circuit as the mini in a smaller package. Haven't compared the two to see how similar. I have a micro and for me it is fantastic. Very good for the price. If you have the cash, check out the big'uns as they are certainly more fine tunable than mine.
