HELP! GIG-FX CHOPPER messed up! It keeps falling!

Sign in to disble this ad
So my Gig-FX Chopper which is normally in the "heel up" position when " non-chopping" keeps slightly lowering by itself and than chopping up my signal which is really friggin annoying. Does anyone else have this problem?

Fixes?

Or suggestions to fix this?

I do not put it through any of my loops and it is one of the few pedals that are not in a loop.

HELP! I can't keep on living like this...

Perhaps there is some sort of friction-providing material you can put on/around the pivot joint?

A good suggestion.. although it is absurd I would have to. I might just call the company tomorrow.

Can you tighten the treadle on it?

Never had the problem myself but it sounds like the nut and bolt that holds the pedal into the base has worked loose, give that a tighten and it should be ok.
If that doesn't fix it speak to GigFX, they are helpful chaps.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. I did try to tighten the bolt but it can get any tighter.

I guess I will have to call Gig-Fx....
Damn.

Would adding a couple of washers be possible? That way you could tighten it more.

UPDATE FROM GIG-FX

Jeff Purchon the CEO of Gig-Fx saw this post and personally emailed me to ask if I got the problem fixed and to say he could assist me if not.

I was a bit shoicked (in a good way!) that he contacted me before I contacted him!

I responded that I still had a problem and he e-mailed me back with instructions for a quick fix which basically entaild using a specific type of wrench and a regular screwdriver to tighten up the treadle. This is hardly a manufacturing problem anbd just something that needs to be adjusted from time to time.

Mr. Purchon was extremely prompt and I am now awaiting for the wrench to arrive.

I was meaning to update this forum weeks ago but have been busy and actually did not see his last email to me. (His last email to me somehow never ended up on the "front page" of my email and thus went overlooked until now).

Kudos to the excellent customer service from Jeff and Gig-Fx! It is really nice to know they are a stand up company that takes customer service seriously!

Indeed there is. And it is nice to know that some effects companies and bass amp companies do care about a board like TB.

What is even more impressive in this case is that usually effects companies tend to pay less attention to bassists in general and especially for an effect like "The Chopper" where even fewer bassists would use it compared to other types of effects a bassist might use.

Well, since they seem to be watching...

GEE I WISH SOMEONE WOULD STOCK THE PRO-CHOP IN AUSTRALIA. ALL I CAN SEEM TO FIND IS THE REGULAR CHOPPER BUT I'D REALLY PREFER THE PRO-CHOP.

Subtle enough?
