Help identifying this effect please

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm not an effects guy, and know squat about what pedals do what. i've been playing bass>amp for the past 20 some years. however, a new group that i have been asked to play in is doing some stuff that would require me to finally jump into this area of unknown.

one of the tunes is from jamiroquai - high times - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyPj6ia_0tA

any idea what might get me close to that "distorted" effect stuart is getting on that tune?

any help would be greatly appreciated

Stuart Zender used a Boss ME8-B multi effects floor processor alot. On that tune he used fuzz, synth, and possibly an octave. I used to have one, they're awesome. I can only find em on e bay. They're the yellow and black ones.

No, they don't make them anymore. It's a shame, they're really cool. Good luck finding one. If you do, never get rid of it.

Nope. To my knowledge, the GT-6B has some of the best "Bass Synth" multi-effect patches around, including their latest update, the GT-10B.

To be honest, I think that it's a keyboard doubling the bass line, not that it helps you cop the tone, but I just thought that I would put it out there.

If I was going for that, I would go for a filter + gated fazz, blended with clean tone.
