Help, im a noob with this(submarine and active bass)

Hey fellow TB-ers, hope you can help me out with this.

Im thinking of getting the Electronix Submarine but im not quite sure if its the thing i need. I'm looking for a tone shaper and a vol boost, both of which the economical submarine is capable of. Thing is im using a Sterling and i read some threads about how the submarine actually makes the passive bass sound active. Hence as my bass is already punchy and an active bass per se, it does seem to suggest that the Submarine is not for me.

Any suggestions or thoughts? If I should go for it or pass? im confused

Thanks.

I run an active with a submarine as my default sound, and I absolutely love it. No active issues that I've ever experienced

My submarine is always on with the tone at about 11:00. Both my main basses are actives with Aguilar OBP-3 preamps.

What's the difference between the Electronix Submarine and the Keeley 4 Knob Compressor?

I love using the submarine with my overdrive pedal. It really brings out the grind and/or the fuzz.

I got my Submarine and it has absolutely no problems witht he Sterling. Thanks guys for the feedback. Hmm the difference between the Keeley comp and the Submarine? Uh the Submarine isnt a compressor to start with, it works more like a toneshaper and a vol boost. The keeley is a compressor but I heard it does has noise issues and headroom problems. The submarine is a bass ore which has a tone control. The keeper is a compressor. Totally different beasts
