Help: Looking out the best quality/price digital delay effect for Bass

Sign in to disble this ad

I'm looking for a good digital delay for Bass players.

I would prefer a floor pedal device but, a one space rack mount also would be considered.

Then, let me know upon your experience and knowledge, what digital delay suitable for Bass would you recommend me ?

Thanks you very much for your comments.

i've got a dd3 and it works great on a bass and i dd-6 is just an all round improvement so i don't see why it wouldn't also be great.

DD-3 works pretty good. If you want more features and some craziness the EHX stereo memory man w/ hazarai looks fun. I'm thinking about picking one up in the next couple days.

...didn't we just have thread on this? Something about delays for around $200... This is a very talked about topic, I suggest a search so you can ask more specific questions.

Any digital delay should work just fine for bass, so the question is what are you looking for in a delay pedal -- we can steer you in the right direction. Also, what is your price range?

Simply I'm looking for a good digital delay for Bass. Many of us have expended lot of money buying all kind of devices which for sure, and this is my case, I wouldn't buy again if it was broken or stolen.

That's the meaning of my question. Do you know the digital delay pedal you would return to buy if you loose it?
Let me why and this one would be one of my candidates to check it na probably to buy it.

Sometimes I had listen songs with incredible delay Bass effects and always thought "what device produces such incredible quality sound?".

The budget: I can expend some money in a digital delay but, lately I'm expending a lot of money in my gear. I'm involved in a project to cover songs from 70s to 00s and I'm trying to be ready to reply (if possible) the original or the best possible sound of all the songs I have to play.

Then, if you know a good digital delay, with a variety of possibilities and not very expensive, this one could be my candidate. Also important is that the device not colours the natural sound of the Bass.

Thanks for your comments

A search will yield many good results, like, Ehx SMMH. My choice for a very versatile and effective digital delay. Lots of features in a relatively small box.

The sound quality isn't all that variable as most digital delays are very good -- I cannot recall coming across bad ones, just ones that didn't have the features I'm looking for. Again, you're going to have to be more specific about what you want -- how much delay time, if you want reverse delay, tap tempo, etc as well as price range -- so we can help.

I love my DD-6, but the DD-20 and RE-201 and Akai Headrush and EHX SMMH are all great and there are tons more.

I would try to check out the Guyatone Micro Delay. Sounds great, has a really well dialed in range of control and is easy on the wallet. If you're looking at the Boss Stompboxes I prefered the DD-5 to the newer 6. But that was mostly for gritty glitchy crazyness which may or may not be what you're looking for. If you're looking for a one space rack and more features/patch memory you should try to check out the TC Electronics D-2, or the Line 6 Delay Pro. It really kind of depends on your budget and the features you are looking for.

Digitech DigiDelay works well. DD6 features at a DD3 price point.

It really depends on what you want. For my needs the dd-3 is perfect. It's simple, easy to use and sounds great. If you want more bells and whistles, then the dd-6 is probably better, and I'm sure that there tons others.

...DD-20 is my bang-for-the-buck champion(a very nice condition, used box, about $160?) although others may go Echo Park...the Nova is very nice, too, but definately more than the Boss...

I just got the ehx stereo memory man w/hazarai (SMMH) yesterday. It is a great digital delay. It also can record 30 second loops which I have found is a great tool to use for writing new parts and helping other band members practice their parts.
