Help me choose one more pedal!!

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an embarrasing empty spot on my board that must be filled immediately! haha. I have been downsizing recently and have assembled my little PT jr using only the pedals that i really like and actually use. So i find myself with enough room for one more small or medium sized pedal.

Here's what I have been considering:

1. a really good compressor. I have been eying up the Diamond comp
2. Another filter as I love filters.
3. Another drive pedal such as the new VT bass, El Grande or EXH bass muff.
4. Carbon Copy Delay

Whatever goes on must be true bypass as I can't tolerate any more tone suck. There is actually very little right now despite three of the five pedals not being true bypass.

So lets here what you all recommend from either the above list or something I haven't thought of.

How about a tuner pedal? If not that then I would get a compression.

IMO...you should add a chorus...

Then figure out a way to squeeze a compressor on there also...

You could easily squeeze the Korg and MXR over a bit/closer together and get two smaller pedals on there.

Why how rediculous! Of course I need another pedal. maybe even two! haha.

I only have the budget for one more at this point. Chorus could be cool but there aren't many decent ones for a reasonable price that I have tried.

Definitely a chorus pedal of some sort. What have you tried so far?

Or maybe a chorus/flanger...

+1
electric mistress for sure, and then an ebs or demeter compressor and you'd be set.

I'd go with some neat type of delay such as the EHX Memory Man with Hazaraii.

I have tried a few Boss units and owned the new Clone Theory for awhile. Not interested in any more Boss stuff and the Clone Theory was way too noisey. I actually really like the MXR stereo chorus but the 18v thing is a bit of a pain and I'm trying to keep things simple with regards to powering the board. I'm using a Godlyke Powerall with a Visual Sound daisy chain as it has right angle power plugs.

I like a drive and a fuzz, so I'd think a fuzz would be pretty practical. Works well with the phaser and filter (the auto Q isn't envelope based is it?)

Otherwise, I'd love to hear some thoughts on the diamond comp, so I'd suggest that!

I would say I chorus. I got one a few weeks ago and I love it. BOSS Chorus Ensemble. Try it out. If not then try the Aphex 1402 Bass Xciter. I got a chance to fiddle around with one, its really neat. Though I dont have the money to purchase it. Its about $100.

The Diamond comp is a front runner fro me at this point. I like the way subtle compression can improve other effects and keep things from getting out of control. I had a Punch Factory for quite awhile and it was a great tool but almost inaudable as an effect.

The El Grande is also really tempting but havn't heard much about it yet. I had a Little Big Muff but found it got lost in the mix pretty easily. I really don't need another drive pedal as the Fulltone covers my dirt needs quite well.

I just got a Demeter Compulator the other day. Only had a few hours with it so far, but im loving having a compressor back on my board! You might too

Other than that, Id toss up between delay and chorus / flange

i would say a chorus pedal too. i just got a mxr stereo chorus. i am really enjoying it and find the bass and treble controls along with the bass filter options to make this one of the best chorus pedals i've tried.

I'd add a Bassballs. As an envelope filter it's a bit of a one-trick pony but stick it after other effects and it adds some really unique colour - makes your sound all throaty and mean.

So here it is, my completed PT Jr. I picked up the Diamond Compressor and have been so far, completely blown away with it. It adds sparkle and punch and improves the sound of my other effects. Very happy with this baby.

Still lovin' the dumptruck. Your board looks awesome, very tidy, and functional. I would've voted for the Carbon Copy, ONLY because it would be a nice match visually to the phaser. Nice job.
