So I after searching for days and listening to tons of sound clips, I order a Supercollider as my "standard" fuzz pedal. Now I'm looking for a more synthy fuzz pedal to put in the effects loop of my Groove Regulator to work in conjunction with my OC-2.
So far the Devi Ever Bit and the Catalainbread Helitrope have caught my ear, but I'm open to other suggestions.
Is the Helitrope really a fuzz pedal though? It seems like it has a lot of sounds, but is it a good choice for a synthier fuzz?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

First you have the synth + octaver in one knob (so no seperate control for added synth or octaving) and an overdrive ...
But you already have an octaver, so you probably don' want to add a second ;-)
anyway: here is a link to their/his site

I'm toying with the idea of putting a noise gate next to my fuzz. Before or after yet to be determined...possibly even in it's own loop with the fuzz. The goal is to try to get a gated sound out of one muff clone.
If not I may have to get a second fuzz. Chunk Systems Brown Dog perhaps.

A Zoom Ultra Fuzz can also get synthy with the Gate cranked.
Oh also, nothing says synthy like the Bass Micro Synth. - set it up like a crazy fuzz if you want.

I started a 'synthy fuzz' thread when i first joined TB.

Beating a dead horse, but I like the Devi Ever Bass Fuzz as well for that gated sound. Sounds great paired up with an octaver. The Devi Ever's in general just seem to have that over the synthy fuzz tone to my ears. I don't have the experience of some of the guys on this forum with all the fuzzes. The samples of the Chunk Systems Brown Dog sounded great. |

From what I've heard from the soundclips, the B:Assmaster can get pretty synthy as well. John Davis did a demo for the Copilot Orbit and got a synthy fuzz out of it, although the pedal is designed to do other stuff as well, so there might not be a lot of variety to that fuzz. |

The Blowtorch doesn't go crazy enough IMO, but it is a very flexible fuzz. Sounds totally uninspiring on its own but works a treat with a band.
I would love to try a Big John Hairy Balls one day, but there aren't many of them around. |

Alot of people have worries about the construction but I've never heard of one breaking on anyone. It's a sawtooth fuzz with an octave up and simple ring mod built in. It's great for synth tones, especially before a filter. I guess the ultimate plus point is it's price. Not only does it sound great, it's really good value. To my ears it's pretty low-end friendly. There's a bit of low end loss but nothing too noticeable. It sounds great on guitar, bass and keys.

Try contacting TruTone music in Santa Monica, Ca. It's the best place for boutique pedals I've ever visited. I'm pretty sure I saw a P&C last time I was in there (maybe a week ago). They have a knowledgeable staff as well. http://www.truetonemusic.com/
Edit: According to their gbase page they do have one in stock. Go get it!

Also check this thread out. gated fuzz | The mammoth sounds nice, one of the best sounds I've heard. However, the gating acts strange with active basses from gryhrx's clips. In an effects loop this may not be a big deal, but since 2/3 of my basses are active this could be a problem.
The Brown Dog sounds nice too, but it seems complicated too adjust and the fact the gate doesn't affect the clean channel is definately a detractor.
The best synth sound on grygrx's site to my ears is the Devi Ever Bass Fuzz. How does the Bass Fuzz compare to the Bit, I've not heard a good A/B comparison of the two.
