Hey guys, I'm an effects noob so be kind
Thinking of buying myself a new overdrive, seeing as my Behringer one broke I'm not sure if I want an overdrive, distortion or fuzz yet. I'm leaning away from the fuzz and more towards the other two though, but, as I said I'm an effects noob. I want something that can nail this tone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJlFBJcqC_8
Any ideas?
Cheers.

| | | | The tone in the video is largely a product of the sound coming from that bass, so don't expect to nail that exact tone, but you should be able to find the right pedal and get a similarly tight distortion sound. I've posted sound samples on this forum to several distortion boxes, so if you want do a search for threads posted by me and most of them will have sound samples for you to check out, maybe get some ideas of what you do/don't want. |

Sweet real tube tone, very versatile & you can keep as much straight signal in as you like. A bit pricey(for my cheap ass)but they pop up used now & then. Before that I used a Dano Daddy-O, also very nice- and much cheaper.

Other people seem to like these too:
EH Big Muff
MXR bass blowtorch
Boss ODB-3
ProCo Rat (II, Turbo...etc.)
Just some suggestions, kind of depends on your price range. |

| | | | i think the ashdown drive plus is one of the best out there for bass overdrive, its definitely not a fuzz; but you can get a really good blend of your clean and dirty signal because its got a blender on it. A great pedal that is subtle or crazy when you need it and you can keep it on alot of the time for an extra boost in your tone. |

That sound he is getting in that clip does sound pretty 'hyper metally' Mind you'll have a bit of trouble finding a hyper metal these days

TheButler- I found a Hyper Metal for sale in a store that is about 30 minutes away from me, I might pick that one up. I know where I can get the Reverb and Chorus from too. I tried finding out what effects he used, but couldn't get any info! Thanks for the help.
Assboglin- Yup, the key to his tone is mostly his bass, it sounds so unique! I wish I new what it was, I love the tone he gets out of that thing.
