I've started building my pedal arsenal up, but am rather confused as to what to do next. I'm really into the synthy, experimental sounds sometimes, so I was thinking I wanted to do more with that.
Here's my current lineup:
Fulltone OCD (OD/distortion)
EHX Enigma:Qballs (envelope that dabbles in distortion)
Dunlop Crybaby Bass 105Q
I've been thinking about possibly adding a Moog filter pedal (no clue which one I would want), or maybe a delay/echo. I really don't know what works best though, being a bit of an effects newbie so ask for a bit of help.
I have ~$300 to spend on (a) pedal(s), so please let me know what you think!
Thanks in advance |

Also an octaver (for synthy stuff). And Moog's Low Pass filter is pretty popular as well. and as always: FUZZ! |

I have a video clip on youtube that I can link you to (short and crappy) if you'd like... I recorded it using a guitar amp and using my on board laptop mic, just to get something going.

i can't remember who (i'm such a tit about names sometimes), but one of the guys on the Post Your PedalBoard thread has wayyyyyyyy too many Moogerfooger stuff. i asked him what he recommended to start with, and he said that since they're a modular (basically different sections) series of synth sections then you kind of need a really good idea of what you're going for and what pieces you want to achieve that sound.
*smacks Eruk with a sweet baguette*
DAMN it. we've talked about this. he's starting out with effects. doesn't have a fuzz. a NORMAL fuzz first. THEN the angry and wacky. |

but besides fuzz the M9 is a beastly good little thing. very impressive compared to most multi-efx units. |

| | | | Hmmmm... :/ well my current distortion pedal does kinda dabble over into the realm of fuzzy-ness, so I don't really know If I need a fuzz. I was thinking about possibly the Malekko Ekko 616, as it looks like a really cool pedal, but I was also wanting to go into the world of more synthy interesting stuff. I'm really not sure where I stand right now.
as far as a multi-fx pedal, they're just not that appealing to me. Maybe i'm too much of an elitist? |

case in point - the Iron Ether Cygnet on my board replacing most of the cut-in-and-out blippiness that i used my M9 for. |

If it is, that cuts half the budget, so I'll play with the other half and see what I find.
Btw, LOVE your user icon; FLCL is the ****
And Haruko is so F'ing badass!!!
I want a blue Ric' with a motor in it!!!!! |

| | | | I used to have one of those rackmount multi-effects processors, maybe a Digitech S-100, and one thing it had was a ring modulator. It honestly gave me a holycrapmybasshasbeenposessedbySatan kind of tone. Maybe worth a go in the "experimental" frontier.
I have a two channel preamp that lets me blend both channels together with control over the level of each one. That's great for whatever effect I may want to layer on top of my fundamental clean tone, but if I didn't have this capacity in my rig, I'd absolutely want something like a Boss LS-2 pedal for that on-demand blending function. |

the Malle 616 is a VERY nice analog pedal. if you don't care about space that much and a delay is what you're going for you might want to look at the Line 6 DL4. it's just the delay section from the M9, has three save spots and a looper. i have one that i was going to list in a bit if you're interested you can pm me.
yay! i turned this thread into an unsavory thing! |

| | | | hmmmm.... I think I'm debating between four different pedals now; and can only afford 2 (money-wise). All three of the Iron Ethers - Cygnet, Oxide, and Xerograph, and the Malle 616 delay....
Which 2 do you think I should get in your opinion. Also, how do you go about ordering the expression pedal from Iron Ether, as it's not listed on their website.... |
