Help me find a pedal that makes this sound!

I have a Boss Micro BR 4-track that I use a lot and there's an effect on it that I really want to be able to replicate live.

I'm hoping there could be a pedal out there that could do it, of course there are other factors to be considered but if I can get close that's ok by me. So if anyone can point me in the direction, even a general one, of a pedal that could do the job I'd be very thankful.

Here's a clip...two riffs, played clean first, then with the distortion. They're repetitive and not funky so don't say I didn't warn you

I'm using a passive Warwick Corvette std with oldish flats, max tone and the bridge pickup solo directly into my 4-track with no frills

The effect itself is made by using a preamp and speaker simulator but there's no clear information on how exactly Boss determined what those presets were based off of so...yeah this is kind of a shot in the dark

it sounds like cheap guitar distortion to me... Something tells me it won't be too hard to find what you need... I bet in less than 24 hours someone will have your answer

uh....what effect are you talking about????

I don't hear anything else going on besides distortion on the latter part of the sound clip.

No, you're right but you already pointed out that the clip has distortion. When I read your post it sounds like you are talking about something else other than the clean and the distortion. If you are then a boss odb-3 can cover that sound pretty well.

Oh ok sorry. No I only meant the distortion.

An odb-3 huh? I'm skeptical only because in every clip I've ever heard of an odb-3 the distortion is really smooth whereas I want something with more grind to it. Maybe I've just been hearing the wrong ones...

smooth odb-3?! Oxymoron!

Joking man, but in all seriousness, I've never heard anyone describe the odb-3 as a smooth overdrive nor would I describe it as such. If anything, the odb-3 is more a distortion pedal. It sounds fizzy and metallic to my ears. It has great eq controls so you never lose your low end. You have really nothing to lose spending $40 - $50 (used) pedal.

TA-DAA here I am! lol

I would agree with fizzy as a way to describe it. It does make a zzzzzzzz sound to me

but that's not what I want...I'm looking for more of a ggggggggg (as in george) sound

My Way Huge Pork Loin does the ggggg sound damn good but it doesn't do the distortion thing too well. It's a freakin amazing overdrive pedal. I will never get rid of it. I've been in the market for a distortion pedal and I've been eyeing the source audio bass distortion pro (just because I'm a sucker for presets). I can record some pork loin clips but if you search within the forum you will find pork loin clips that will give you an idea of what it can do.

EDIT: Try the odb-3, it will sound very close to that clip you posted and at $40 used there's really nothing to lose.

The MXR M-80 or the Aguilar Tone Hammer will do that.
