Help me use the Geiger Counter

Hi! I need some help figuring out the WMD Geiger Counter. I haven't had much time to fiddle around with it, but from what I tried I couldn't really get the sounds I wanted.

Anyone got any tips for operating the Geiger Counter? Also some favourite settings?

And! Is it possible to get a really mild bitcrushing effect (like the Bugcrusher) with the Geiger?

No but really. I had the civilian for less than a month. It hurt my ears. Bad. I still wanna try the big one but didn't really dig it.

The WMD Geiger Counter is kind of like taking in a stray mountain lion, who's hurt and hungry. Being careful not to let it rip your face off, you feed it, spend time with it...let it get to know YOU. Once it's comfortable with you...it can can KILL FOR YOU!

For one, if you are using this on bass, get it modded for bass (Bill at WMD does the mod if you send it in) or go to Prymaxe Vintage and order one...really makes a difference.

Second, this is not a nicey nice distortion/fuzz pedal. It takes a bit of patience and a lot of tweaking to find the useful sounds. Sometimes it's like accidentally firing a shotgun in your own face - not pleasant. BUT, it will work for you. I've been finding some great, synthy, destructive, odd, and subtle sounds in this thing. I can get sounds VERY similar to my CoPilot Orbit but it does have a character of its own.

Last night, one of the sounds inspired me to record and nasty bass line that I'll be using in a new project I'm putting together. I'm still learning this pedal - I got it not even two weeks ago.

So, hopefully this helps anyone who's interested in the Geiger Counter.

BTW, try playing short notes, muting the strings at the bridge with the bottom of you hand and using your thumb to pluck the notes...gives a cool synthy sound, with limited (i.e. short) note length, without sending too much harmonic content from your instrument. For me, this is where the pedal opens up to you.

i just got mine back from WMD with the bass mod. much fuller on the bottom end now.

i've noticed on my Civlillian Issue that some of the sounds have a sweepy synth envelope thing on the attack & others are more of a (dare i say) natural gristley fuzz thing going on. this effect is exaggerated exponentially when you depress the function button & the decimal point lights up. i tend to prefer the sounds without the sweepy envelope effect & just the bitcrushing fuzz.
