Help! My black finger just stoped working.

Sign in to disble this ad
I played through my black finger for a an hour, then left for a bit to eat. came home and powered up and got no sound with the pedal engaged. I tried turning all the knobs, powered off and on again, checked cables... In Bypass i still get my original signal but engaged I get nothing, just a lit LED.

Has this happened to any one?

Suggestions?

They are famous for bad solder connections internally. I'd bet if it really isn't something simple like a loose wire in a cable or a certain knob/switch turned the wrong way, that there is a bad solder joint inside.

One review I saw, from a professional touring guitarist who was an EHX endorser, said he had a B. Finger that stopped working and when he opened up the bottom a couple of components just fell out.

+1 on this.

I hate to say, but my first mental image was Mr. Deeds' foot only a finger. I thought you might have had the same...

Ok, I opened it up, it looks solid to me. All connections I could find were well soldered. though there was a salt like residue on the bottom of the board. I cleaned it, and shocked myself in the process. I put it back together and now it works. Is it possible the residue was the cause of the problem? Or is it more likely I reconnected a lose connection while fiddling and should send it in to ehx before it breaks again?

By the way, you can still shock yourself even with power cable disconnected. I forgot reading this in the manual...woops.
