Help! My deep impact has lost it's volume.

When the pedal is engaged my volume falls by about 90% . In bypass it's fine. It's switches on, and through presets without problems. but the volume is so quiet it is unusable. It's been in storage for about 2 years. It worked fine when I put it away. Any ideas?

hmmm.....it´s tricky.those pedals are cool but often unable to handle transients and sometimes are inaccurate in their tracking.I suggest you look at getting a line6 filter modeller :: they do the same thing but much better IMO - I´ve had both and now only use the line 6.hope that helps........

No, it tracks as well as ever. It just drastically reduces my volume. I was wondering if anyone else here has had a similar issue with this or any other pedal.

Does this happen with every preset or just one or two? I ask because there may be the possibility of something being changed in the preset in advertantly. Just a thought.

dirtgroove - sorry to hear about your pedal issues! Who cares how it tracks if the volume suddenly dropped 90% and won't come back!

I've heard of a common issue with these pedals, regarding solder joints inside the pedal cracking and needing to be reflowed, or something along those lines. Certainly a good place to start your search, and these symptoms might be what others have described in past threads. I'd also recommend contacting Akai, as Ive heard good things about their customer service, and iirc something like $50 to replace the bad solder. (assuming that is in fact the issue.)

Good luck with it!

I took mine apart and cleaned everything with De-Oxit cleaner, and then waxed the pedal... Tracked better and was cleaner afterwards. It is not terrible to do. Open it and take a look around. Also, search for Deep Impact here and look for the thread. I posted pics...

Probably a loose wire or a cold solder joint.

You could say that it has lost it's 'impact'...
