| The 166 is ideal through the effects loop. In fact, that's one of the comps I used to test the loop when we designed the amp.
The squeel may be acoustic feedback that's happening because if you are using a LOT of compression (including the effective compression from your distortion and pedal board) there may be enough gain available (when you are not playing, the system's overall loop gain will be at the maximum) to cause the pickup to receive the vibrations from the speaker and with all that gain, pass it back onto the speaker amplified causing more vibrations to be picked up by the pickup etc.
One thing that may be making this worse is a pickup that has a loose magnet core or loose wires in the coil or loose mounting hardware or bad potting.
