Help! My pedal has become hypersensitive!

I've really started hammering my effects pedals recently, partially because I'm writing songs.
My problem- when I use my Shergold (passive) it works fine. But with my active Yamaha the pedal becomes hypersensitive and I get a sound even from moving my fingers up and down the string.
I've tried nearly all the settings on the pedal and bass and I can't seem to sort it out.


Any ideas?

some pedals are made for the impedance range of a passive instrument . not your pedal.

your active preamp makes it too loud.

if you can turn down the bass's eq (assuming it has one)
