Help with the nitty gritty decision

Sign in to disble this ad
So I have narrowed down my choices to 3 pedals...I play in a 4 piece rock band and I need a GOOD gritty overdrive yet under $200 dollars,So I would like to know what you guys think between:

MXR Blowtorch
MXR M80 d.i.
Sansamp d.i.

Looking foward to your input

Wow, the Blowtorch does not really fit what I would call an Overdrive.....

But, I would vote Sansamp if I had to pick one of those.

Blowtorch = fuzz, M80 = distortion, Sansamp = overdrive.

Personally I'm not a fan of either of these pedals.

i have an M80 and it is distortion. and it took me a while to find a distortion setting that i liked. but once i did, i use it quite a bit. my only complaint is that you cannot use the distortion channel independently of the eq channel. the eq smooths the tone a bit, and i like the distortion to be gritty and biting, but its certainly nice to have options like those.

your definitely not gonna get that sound out of a blowtorch, i have one, and i love it, but its far too synthy for 'grit', i've also got the sansamp, which gives oodles of grit, but its got the DI and its a pre-amp too. however, some people (read: alot) dont like the fact that it doesnt have a mid control, but i think just as a stompbox you should get the tone you want.

however, id also agree with kmk42019 about the Bass-drive, i just got the original off ebay, and it should be with me in a couple of days, apparently you can make it sound like a raging SVT, and the soundclips ive heard are pretty great, so you really might wanna check that out. and its cheaper than the sansamp.
