help! no sound!?

Sign in to disble this ad
OK so I did numerous searches and came up with nothing.

So now I am asking.

I am just putting together my first pedal board. Seems pretty straight forward enough.
Streamer Jazzman bass-> Planet waves tru-strober tuner-> MXR octaver-> AGRO-> TLC comp-> GK 700rbII amp
all powered by a Gator powered pedal board. They are all getting power. The only one that lets sound through is the tuner. When I engage anything else it all goes silent. I swapped cables, tried them all individually and nothing. I even tried active and passive setting on my bass. It must be something simple a stupid that I am doing wrong. Please help.

One or more of the pedals is/are not compatible with each other via the shared ground that the Gator board uses. Whichever one (or more) have this issue, they literally shut the others down with an electrical fault. The way to identify which one(s) are causing the problem is by process of elimination--try each pedal in various combinations.

Those pedals are not intended to be used in the amp's effects loop, but rather straight in the front. Just so you know, it won't hurt anything, but it might not sound its best.

Serious question, no sarcasm.

BINGO! DING,DING,DING!!!
Thanks a ton.
This just confirms why I do not even try to do any thing remotely handy around the house or to my car. I have no head for this stuff.

you're not the only one, when I first put together my board I did the same thing, was getting hysterical for it not working. Checked cables, bass, amp, speaker ... then it hit me, and I've never felt so dumb ...

I've seen it happen at gigs too, even with experienced players. When dealing with pedal problems, the first question should be: is everything hooked up right?

BTW is there a reason why the signal chain goes from right to left in pedals? Always seemed backwards to me?
