I recently got the addiction bug, and have bought five pedals in the last couple of weeks, already had one pedal, and am getting one more. I need some help in figuring out what order I should place my pedals.
Lineup consists of: BBE Sonic Maximizer, BBE Opto Stomp, Tech 21 VT Bass, EHX Small Clone, EHX Knockout, EHX Big Bass Muff Pi and Morley Double Bass Wah.
Any recommendations?
Also, any pedal(s) that I might be missing? I play in two different bands, one is mostly classic rock, the other is alternative.
Thanks for the help!

What order should I put my effects in?
The only right answer is - it depends.
Here are some useful links discussing the various factors to consider when ordering your pedals: http://users.chariot.net.au/~gmarts/fx-order.htm http://www.alesis.com/support/cc/fxorder.html (references use of effects with keyboards, but it's still relevant) http://www.record-producer.com/learn.cfm?a=3065 http://www.robertkeeley.com/faq.php#Effect%20Order http://fuq.encycmet.com/questions/96...ct+pedal+order

I'm not sure where I would group an octavor??? Would that be a pitch effect.
Thanks

Morley Wah...Opto-Stomp...VT Bass...BBM...Knockout...Small Clone...Sonic Maximizer
that should give you a good starting place anyway
generally octave pedals IMHO sound best after your Dirt Pedals...or sandwiched in between and OD and a Fuzz....YMMV

muff - vt bass - knock out - small clone - maximizer - wah - opto stomp
but thats just me.. from my personal experience i like the sound of the muff before the vt as it cuts through much better and a wah after fuzz is insane! the compressor goes in the end to tame the signal as you like and is always on

I would experiment to determine if the octave sounds better after the comp, if the muff sounds better before the vt, if you like the wah before or after the muff. Off the top of my head I'd try octave, wah, muff, comp, chorus, vt, max. |

Then I'd go Octave, Muff, Wah, VT, Chorus.
To me a muff before wah is awesome, but play around with your dirt before and after to determine what you like best (with an octave before it sounds even better).
Octave needs to be as near to the front as possible to help with tracking.
The max and ko could go anywhere I guess, I'd probalby put them at the end of the chain. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
